I really hope we get a good opportunity to shank Mephisto. The trope is ‘Earn Your Happy Ending’, and I have to say… they’ve earned at least one. Or someone’s not counting right. If anything, that should be a popular opinion. Sad backstories and the like can be used to explain a character’s behavior, but it should never be an excuse. Well, I said ‘anyone’, but I kind of have to agree that maybe Mephisto doesn’t deserve a Nice If You Don’t Eat Your Meat You Can’t Have Any Pudding Shirt happy ending. Though I somehow feel a mere shanking is too good for him. Thou shalt get out, what put in. A hard series of reads, but sometimes that kind of depth of character and how people can still go on to maybe, one day, be happy is worth it in the end. I really hope that there’s a happy end for the Ursus girls, or indeed anyone in this game, down the road at the end of someday.
